All Porcelain Crowns vs. Porcelain Fused to Metal

Often times, dentist will use crowns made out of porcelain fused to metal. They are strong, however, the metal is dark and blocks the transmission of light resulting in an opaque appearance, plus the metal can show as a dark line at the gum line.

Today’s all-porcelain crowns are a tremendous improvement compared to traditional porcelain fused to metal crowns because they give your teeth a more natural appearance in both color and shape. They do, however come with a higher price as they require a bit more artistry and skill to place since they can be directly bonded to the tooth.
